Novi Sad, the very first city from Serbia to ever bear a title of the European Capital of Culture, will celebrate European values in 2022 with more than 1500 cultural events and 4000 local, national and international artists, within a total of eight programme arches. Novi Sad will share the title together with Kaunas (Lithuania) and Esch-Sur-Alzette (Luxembourg). The 2022 programme announcements will continue in the months to follow. The entire programme book will be published in October this year.

UK Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, few days ago has launched the competition to find the UK’s next City of Culture. The competition, delivered by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in collaboration with the devolved administrations, will use culture as a catalyst for levelling up areas outside London and put culture at the heart of their plans to recover from the impact of the pandemic.
The international jury chose Oulu as the European Capital of Culture for the year 2026. The jury announced the winner at a press conference yesterday at 12.00. Competing for the title of European Capital of Culture alongside Oulu were Savonlinna and Tampere. The victory of Oulu will be celebrated together with the citizens on 8th August at Varjo-Piknik summer party in Oulu’s Kuusisaari.

An international jury consisting of representatives of the GO! 2025 - The European Capital of Culture and professionals from the art field has selected five proposals from seven artists from Slovenia, Italy and France to carry out artistic interventions in Nova Gorica along the routes of two important cycling races: Giro d'Italia and the Tour of Slovenia. The project is supported by Municipality of Nova Gorica and GO! 2025 – European Capital of Culture.

In the run-up to Esch-Alzette’s term as European Capital of Culture (Esch2022), several exhibitions are now being held at Annexe22 in Esch’s “Brillplaz”. This is where Luxembourg artists present their work and installations to local residents and visitors.
