But in addition to natural light, there are artistic experiences that try to interact with natural ones. It is no coincidence that in the far north of Europe there are many festivals dedicated to light such as the Light Art Festival in Oslo. Fjord Oslo is a free art festival that transforms Harbour Promenade into an outdoor exhibition of light, open to all. Bringing together and an international programme of renowned artists, this celebration is a broad exploration of light art. It is also for this reason that Bodo 2024 and its cultural programme focuses on the theme of light. And in the past few days, it has launched a call dedicated to this very theme.
Bodø2024 European Capital of Culture calls for artists and/or concepts from, with connection to, or with deep understanding of Sápmi and Northern Norway to create a piece for the concluding weeks of Bodø2024.
They desire a work that incorporates light as part of its expression and/or installation. All concepts and formats are welcome to apply. Both existing works and new commissions will be considered. Concepts that can be replicated and reassembled are prioritized. The art piece must be technically feasible and ready for display from November 15th to 30th, 2024.
Artists fee: EUR 12,500.
Production and material costs by agreement.
Deadline: 28 May 2024.
The project is supported by Sparebank1 Nord-Norge Samfunnsløftet.
