The Évora 2027 Association informs that the application deadline for the open calls “A Nossa Vez / Our Turn” — aimed at artists, associations and cultural agents from the Alentejo — and “O Nosso Laboratório / Our Lab” — open to international artists and cultural organisations — has been extended by three weeks, until the 31st January 2026, with the aim of encouraging broader participation and strengthening the overall quality of the applications.
The open call “A Nossa Vez / Our Turn” is addressed to artists, associations and cultural agents from the Alentejo and invites the submission of proposals for collaborative artistic creation and programming projects, covering all artistic fields and expressions of the region’s arts and crafts. The selected projects will be presented in 2027 at different locations across the Alentejo territory, contributing to enriching the artistic programme of Évora_27 and reinforcing the visibility, circulation and promotion of local culture and craft production
The open call “O Nosso Laboratório / Our Lab” is aimed at artists, individually or collectively, as well as legal entities of a private or public nature, resident or based in Europe — with the exception of Portugal — or outside Europe, with proven experience in the areas to which they are applying. This call covers the following artistic fields: Theatre, Dance, Music, Circus, Street Arts, Opera, Architecture, Design, New Media and Cross-Disciplinary Artistic Projects.
The Regulations, the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document and the Application Forms for both open calls are available on the official Évora_27 website at www.evora2027.com.
In order to clarify questions and support the application process for the regional open call “A Nossa Vez / Our Turn”, it is also possible to schedule weekly online information sessions via the same website.
Applications for both open calls must be submitted by 11:59 pm (GMT) on 31 January 2026, using the form available on the website, and must be written in Portuguese or English.
About the Évora_27 Open Calls
The open calls, as outlined in the Évora_27 Bid Book, offer opportunities for artists, associations, institutions and communities – both from the Alentejo and abroad – to become part of the artistic programme of Évora 2027 – European Capital of Culture. They aim to foster dialogue, collaboration and inclusion, promoting the cultural and social co-evolution of the Alentejo region.
A total of four open calls will be launched in the lead-up to the European Capital of Culture. The calls seek projects that engage with the concept of Vagar, deepen the relationship between tradition and experimentation, promote diversity and inclusion, encourage civic participation, and contribute to a fairer and more prosperous future for all.
They aim to give a stage to new ideas, narratives and approaches that celebrate cultural diversity and promote sustainability, cooperation, interdisciplinarity and cross-sector collaboration.
